Doula support after the birth

Contact Jaime

Little Treasures Postpartum offers assistance after your baby is born, in the comfort of your home, to help ease the transition in this emotional stage of your life.

What is a postpartum doula?

Jaime Healy-Plotkin right after her own birth
According to the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA):
The postpartum doula is a trained professional who offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support to a new mother and the rest of the family. The main objective of the postpartum doula’s role is not to take over complete care of the newborn, but to educate and support the family so that they will feel empowered to care for their newborn themselves.

As a certified postpartum doula, Jaime can provide non-medical care, non-judgmental guidance, baby care basics, emotional support, breastfeeding or bottlefeeding support, maternal mentoring, light household chores, light meal and snack preparation, sibling and parent education, resources and referrals, all while nurturing the family within the first three months of the baby's birth.

Why hire a postpartum doula?

Hiring a postpartum doula after the birth of a child can:
  • Reduce stress
  • Reduce depressive symptoms and anxiety
  • Increase perceived sense of control
  • Lead to better maternal responsiveness and competence
